Spring Refresh with Mark's

I don’t know about your part of the world, but up here in Alberta, Canada (i.e. land of loooong winters) we are starting to feel the effects of spring!!! Spring has always been one of my favourite seasons. Not only do I love the milder weather and the burst of new life (hello, new buds + sweet florals!!), but it’s about this time that I find myself hankering for a refresh of my wardrobe of my spring/summer closet.

Anyone who knows me, knows that I don’t have many pieces in my wardrobe during any given season, and the garments that do make the cut get a lot of use!! Although it may sound vague, the ultimate rule for me when it comes to clothing is that it has to make me feel good when I’m wearing it! As someone who works from home but meets regularly with clients, I’m always on the hunt for outfits that are comfortable and casual, yet put-together and stylish. When Mark’s reached out to partner with Chad and I, we were both excited as we not only both grew up with Mark’s, but so many of the pieces featured in their spring launch fit our lifestyles!

What really drew us to Mark’s was their selection of Levi jeans. I loved the fit of the first pair was that I picked out: the Slimming Skinny Jeans. We shot these looks when I was nearly 16 weeks pregnant and I was a little nervous about how everything was going (or not going!) to fit. However, I was very pleased to learn that these slimming jeans really were slimming!! I did size up, but I can honestly say that these jeans are comfortable and feel good on! I paired them with a cute lace coverup that I know will be perfect for times when I want an extra bit of coverage. I wore it over a plain tshirt I already owned and a pair of perforated slip-on shoes, however I also plan to wear this coverup over summer dresses! I love this look for errands, days around the house and site visits!

Although Chad works in an office, his day-to-day attire is also generally pretty casual and he definitely tends to lean towards pieces with a workwear vibe to them. Chad got 2 pairs of Levi jeans and I don’t know if I’ve seen him not wearing one of the pairs over the past few weeks, lol. He got a light-wash blue denim (the 511 Slim Fit Commuters) and as well as a slightly distressed grey pair (style 502). He wears them to work with a button-up, or around the house with a tshirt. He loves the versatile grey crewneck and he is OBSESSED with his Carharrt vest – they’ve both been on heavy rotation as we run back and forth to the hardware store and come home to tackle our ongoing renovations! His boots are water-resistant and easy to slip on for casual outings, but professional enough to wear to the office.

For my second outfit, I wanted something a bit more polished, but not formal. The Odessey Pull On Leggings were a dream for me as they could accommodate a barely-there baby bump, but they’re also stretchy enough to fit me properly, post-partum! Best of all? No fly!! So these pants are super-comfortable with all the polish + perks of a traditional 5-pocket dark jean look. Since the pants are fitted, I paired them with a loose blouse. I love the feminine, pretty bell sleeves, and the peplum detail is not only forgiving for the first few months of my pregnancy, but flattering for all shapes + sizes. I find that the loose fit and cute hand-drawn quality of the polka dots keeps this blouse from feeling too stuffy for me! This is a great outfit that I can foresee myself wearing to client meetings, church, or out to brunch or dinner dates 😊

Thank you to the amazing Alyssa of Alyssa Marie Photography for these photos! I hope that you guys were able to gain some seasonal inspiration, now get out and enjoy some SPRING WEATHER!!
